Overland

By definition, vehicle-dependent overland travel requires a broad series of skillsets, including basic engineering review for equipment selection, management and planning skills for expedition logistics and a strong awareness of how to interact with foreign cultures and ensure your travels present the minimal environmental impact. Overland travel also requires the adventurer to drive or ride great distances in a 4wd or on an adventure motorcycle, demanding competence in varied terrain scenarios and vehicle recovery.

The principals of Overland Training identified the limited availability of proper vehicle-dependent training programs available in North America. While there are several high-quality 4wd training programs offered, none take a systematic, wholistic approach to developing the suite of skills necessary to travel efficiently and safely as an overlander.
